Therapeutic Art of Movement Institute
presents a short online CPD course
As Phoenix from the ashes:
Attachment in DMT practice during a pandemic

TAOMI offers this course to helping professionals who utilise embodied approaches (Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), arts-based and somatic practices). Over a 5-week period this course will develop and deepen professional skills regarding the topic of attachment.

So much has changed in our lives, from the way we give birth to how we die. Our fundamental sense of safety and relatedness are formed at an early age through primary attachments, relationships and experience.

TAOMI wants to consider the evidence of this change and explore new perspectives. We wish to develop new skills that address the issues facing ourselves and our clients, of all ages. Now is the time to attend to our attachment processes and explore new ways to rise from the ashes of this pandemic and recreate our professional and personal selves.

The global pandemic has brought to light the need for family connection now more than ever. The need for social distancing and limited contact has required us to especially rely on interpreting nonverbal expressions and our embodied experience. This webinar focuses on the key elements of nonverbal expression that support the development of a secure caregiver - infant relationship and how to support this relationship during these stressful times. Karen Studd
Laban Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) is framed through what is called Space Harmony. It recognizes Space as a continuum between Inner and Outer and it focuses on the balance and phrasing of our inner and outer existence. This presentation will focus on explicating and mapping the space we contain and the space we inhabit and how to find support through deepening your relationship to space. We have our own space but ultimately, we share space with others in our interactions, so awareness of space is an essential aspect of relationship. Space too plays an important role in creating and dissolving the boundaries we utilize in our relationships. The presentation will be both a lecture and laboratory experience and will have time for questions and answers.
